Okan University (OKAN) is one of the youngest and the most dynamic universities in Turkey. Founded by Okan Culture, Education, and Sports Foundation in 1999, it began its academic life in 2003-2004.

Since then OKAN has grown rapidly to more than 300 full time academics, a student body of 17.000 and offers more than 140 undergraduate and graduate programs in its 15th year.

One of OKAN’s focused research areas is “Intelligent Vehicle and Transport Systems”. The “Transport Technology and Intelligent Automotive Systems Research Centre” (TTIS) was established in 2009 to contribute to intense on-going research activities in Turkey and in EU, to improve efficiency and to develop intelligent and ultra-low emission transport.

With the development of advanced vehicles technology and the planning of automatic routes, the centre wants to respond to global and socio-economical needs regarding the diminution of the road traffic, the contribution to more environment-friendly road transportation.
